ACTS Airport Services formally launched our Airport Traffic Services detail at Charlotte Douglas International Airport (CLT) in Charlotte, North Carolina on January 25th.

After agreeing to a multi-year contract with the City of Charlotte, more than 45 Traffic Control Agents and Supervisors from ACTS began providing 24/7 coverage of the traffic control and curbside enforcement detail at CLT. Our staff directed pedestrian, vehicular, and construction related traffic on the upper and lower levels of CLT’s terminal entrances, and other areas as assigned, to prevent congestion. With a focus on delivering exceptional customer service, safety and security, our staff assisted travelers, employees, and visitors with information, offered directions to airport and off-airport locations, and maintained an obstruction-free walkway for the movement of pedestrians across CLT’s crosswalk.

Since receiving unanimous approval for the award of the Airport Traffic Services Contract from the Charlotte City Council in November, the Operations and Recruiting Teams from ACTS have hosted numerous Open Houses and Job Fairs to screen the incumbent Traffic Control staff at CLT and identify new employees whose experience, knowledge, and friendly, customer focused approach aligned with the program’s needs.

“We are thrilled to have commenced the Airport Traffic Services detail in Charlotte,” said Damien Flynn, ACTS Chief Executive Officer. “Our new staff reflect ACTS’ values of trust, professionalism, teamwork, and heart. Our hiring practices, extensive training, and mentoring from ACTS’ compliance and operations leaders produced a team which is prepared to identify safety threats and protect those traveling through Charlotte.”

“I would like to extend my appreciation to everyone who had a hand in starting the Airport Traffic Services detail at CLT,” said Sam Juchtman, Chief Operating Officer of ACTS. “All facets of our organization from operations, recruiting, compliance, marketing, and senior leadership came together to ensure the successful launch of our Airport Traffic Service detail. Additionally, we worked together to coach our new staff, ensure their safety, and adjust our protocols to address CLT’s needs. That collaboration enabled ACTS to deliver upon the promises made to the City of Charlotte, the City Council, and CLT in installing a program which ensures protection of passengers, motorists, employees at the airport.”

The start of service at CLT represents the fourth U.S. airport in the last 2 years to partner with ACTS in securing their facilities, joining Pittsburgh International Airport, Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky International Airport, and Minneapolis/St. Paul International Airport.

ACTS is partnering with Professional Security Services (PSS), a Charlotte-based Minority Business Enterprise, as our subcontractor on the Traffic Services program. Officers from PSS participated in training with ACT during the first week of service and anticipate standing post beginning in early February.
